Company History
Metro Aviation was incorporated
in 1982 as a helicopter charter, flight training, and
maintenance operation. Our entry into the air medical service
business came in November 1983 — when Metro Aviation entered
into a long-term agreement to provide helicopter ambulance
service for Schumpert Medical Center in Shreveport, Louisiana.
In matters dealing with clients, we believe in simplicity,
involved management, and thoroughness. Multi-tiered management
structures slow down communications and prolong the
decision-making process. Therefore, our clients do not have to
deal with cumbersome infrastructures that characterize many
companies. Metro Aviation's entire senior management is always
available for questions, comments and decisions. In fact, the
hands-on management style practiced by our senior management
will many times anticipate and overcome any areas of concern
before they become a problem.
From the beginning, we have maintained a posture of excellence
within our profession. Ours is a pledge to always provide
exemplary service, safety and leadership to each and every one
of our clients and to the industry as a whole. You will find
this philosophy and this way of conducting business actively
endorsed and practiced by the entirety of Metro Aviation's
management and staff.
Today, Metro Aviation's reputation for excellence in helicopter
transportation services is internationally recognized. As such,
we have enjoyed substantial growth. It is important to note,
however, that Metro Aviation's growth has been carefully
controlled — controlled to assure our financial stability and to
allow us the opportunity of selecting only the most qualified
personnel.
Metro Aviation now has air medical transport operations
throughout the United States. Hospitals have signed ten and
twelve year contracts with us because of the advantages of: 1)
caps on price escalation; 2) a strong equity position; 3) our
commitment to minimizing aircraft downtime (we have a 98.8%
mission performance rate); and 4) our commitment to safety,
service and leadership.
Our presence is evident in other areas of the industry. We have
developed and received FAA Supplemental Type Certificates for
many air medical components and installations including fixed
and rotor-wing. This technology is now in place in a wide
variety of helicopters working for programs throughout North
America, the Middle East, Europe, and South America.
Our completion center has installed full law enforcement and air
medical kits, components and avionics packages for new and
repeat customers. Quite often, Metro Aviation not only performs
the installation, but purchases the aircraft and trains the
ground and flight personnel as well.
In this highly competitive industry, there are many reputable
concerns. Few companies, though, can provide the many services,
the dedication, the stability and the excellence of Metro
Aviation.
